Election 2012 Polls
By Eshwarya Patel

As soon as the 2008 election brought to Washington a wave of "change", polls had already started being conducted for the 2012 election.

Immediately after the 2008 election, Sarah Palin was the resounding front runner to win the Republican primary and challenge Barack Obama. But Palin's lead was short lived after just a month after which Bobby Jindal, Mike Huckabee, and Mitt Romney started playing musical chairs for the lead.

Bobby Jindal had his month of fame until his first prime time appearance on national television blew his popularity and his image. So as of now, the only dependable candidates for the 2012 election are Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney.

Although neither of these politicians have stated any desires to run for the Republican ticket, it is all but a certainty that they will eventually state their intentions to run. Romney and Huckabee finished second and third, respectively, to John McCain in 2008.

The polls were very closely watched for the 2008 election. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton were in the tightest of races for the Democratic primary. With each passing primary, the race got even tighter and Obama eventually was able to hold her off.

Several pollsters will be polling throughout the 2012 election but one should focus in on those websites that aggregate poll results for the consumer. This is because each individual pollsters carry with them their own little uncertainties and inaccuracies. It was shown that for the 2008 election, polling aggregates were the most accurate way to measure the polls. For example, although Hillary Clinton clearly won the Texas and Ohio primaries over Barack Obama, there were still two pollsters claiming a tight race in each of those two states.
